Each year, Toronto University offers up to 5,000 scholarships to applicants from Canada and abroad. Participants from all around the world are eligible to apply for the scholarship to study in Canada. The Scholarship is available for the 2023–2024 school year.

Applications for the fully-funded University of Toronto Scholarships for the 2023 academic year are invited from local Canadian and international students. The Institution of Toronto is Canada's most prominent and distinguished university. Both domestic and international students are given a handful of fully-funded Canadian scholarships each year. Some of these scholarships are entirely supported, paying for the winners' educational costs.

IELTS Requirement at the University of Toronto: Optional

The University of Toronto accepts IELTS academic scores of 6.5, although it is not a prerequisite for submitting an admissions application there. An application for a scholarship or admission will still be considered if the candidate can provide any other IELTS substitute exam.

List of Scholarships Announced by UoT in 2023

The University of Toronto scholarships are for everyone. So, you can apply directly to the University’s portal. Some of these Canadian scholarships offered at the University of Toronto are discussed below:

1 Toronto University Scholars Program:

This scholarship program is for undergraduate students who have been accepted to the University of Toronto. This program gives out over 700 scholarships annually to local and international students. The UoT scholar's prize is worth CAD 7,500.

Students who are applying for any undergraduate program offered at the University of Toronto will be considered for this scholarship program. It is awarded based on candidates’ past educational performance and doesn’t require a separate application. This is a non-renewable scholarship and is only awarded for the first year.

The Award's Specifics:

The total number of scholarships is 700, each with a CAD$7,500 remission for tuition. It is given out each autumn and applies to all of the university's undergraduate programs. It is one of many entry prizes that the institution provides and is available to both domestic and international students.

Eligibility Criteria and the Application Process:

Applicants must have an outstanding high school record. This record must be consistent throughout their high school years.
They must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at the University of Toronto.
They must apply through direct entry.

You don't need to make any application for this scholarship. It is awarded based on the candidate’s previous academic record. Applications are not required for any entrance awards offered by the University of Toronto.

Some documents that are required by the candidates for their admission and scholarship are as follows:

Transcripts of their high school.
Language proficiency certificate. The minimum score requirement for IELTS is 7.0 and for TOEFL is 93.
Reference letters and statement of purpose
Test results of standardized tests like SAT, GMAT, GRE, etc. (if required by the program chosen by the student)

Entrance rewards are only awarded after considering the candidates' high school grades and records. In addition, students must begin a full-time undergraduate program in the autumn.

2 The Lester B. Pearson International Student Scholarships

Lester B. Pearson International Student Scholarships are awarded to exceptional students who have demonstrated academic excellence and leadership potential. Students are considered and chosen based on their effect and transformation in their community or school. They will also be evaluated based on what they can achieve in the future for the community.

Every year only 37 lucky students get this scholarship which covers the recipients’ tuition, books, dormitory/residential expenses, and incidental costs. The maximum duration of the award is four years, and it is available to both local and international students.

Procedure for Applying:

Applicants must be nominated by their school and apply to one of the university's undergraduate programs. After being set by their school and applying to university, the applicant will be emailed a link to the scholarship application.

Only pupils who can separate themselves from their peers are encouraged to apply. However, the differentiation must not be based only on academic performance or certification. Instead, students must be passionate about helping society and making a constructive difference.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be international students requiring a visa/permit to study in Canada.
They must be in their final year of high school and graduating in June 2023 or later.
They must apply for the year starting Spring 2023 at the University of Toronto.

University of Toronto (U of T) Scholarships Application Deadline:

There a quite a few deadlines for applying to these U of T scholarships. These deadlines are listed below:

The last date the candidates’ schools can nominate them is February 1, 2023.
The deadline for applying for the scholarship is January 12th, 2023.
The deadline for applying to the OUAC is January 15th, 2023. (Students are advised to apply to OUAC well before the deadline as it is likely that the admissions in the program of their choice close before the deadline arrives. Popular programs tend to close way earlier than other programs)
